The Athlete Psychotherapist Method (The AP Method) is a four-part, mastery-based framework designed for the people who shape athletes most—coaches, parents and guardians, clinicians, and athlete-support professionals.
Grounded in mastery development theory, whole-person development, and trauma-responsive care, the AP Method bridges the gap between mental well-being and high performance. It offers a shared language and practical tools for navigating the complex emotional, relational, and developmental realities athletes face—on and off the field.
As a former elite and Division I athlete turned licensed psychotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience, I created this method to support sustainable growth, psychological safety, and long-term athlete development…without sacrificing rigor, accountability, or excellence.
