About Laura

@theathletepsychotherapist

I’m on a mission to help athletes, clinicians, coaches, and organizations thrive — not just perform, but truly flourish as whole human beings on and off the field.

My work is shaped by my lived experience as a first-generation Filipina-Korean American, a former elite and Division I athlete, and over twenty years as a psychotherapist. I bring a relational, whole-person lens to everything I do, integrating psychodynamic theory, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and mastery development to support healing, growth, and sustainable performance.

I work with individuals and systems across sport, healthcare, education, and organizational settings. Alongside my clinical practice, I consult with clinicians, coaches, leadership teams, and programs to build trauma-informed, developmentally sound approaches that support psychological safety, identity development, and long-term mastery.

Whether working with individuals or systems, my approach is grounded in the belief that performance and wellbeing are not opposing goals — and that lasting change happens when people are supported as whole humans within the environments where they live, work, and compete.

As an advocate and speaker, I co-host Hahnacity, a podcast focused on healing through storytelling with former elite gymnast and current coach Joy Hahn Silva Millora.

I am a the founder of the Athlete Community Clinicians (ACC), and a member of the Alliance for Social Workers in Sports (ASWIS) and the Embrace Change Leadership Network.

Los Angeles-born, New York City–nested. Proud parent of young athletes. Dodgers and Lakers loyalist.

Areas of Focus

My work most often centers on:

2. Clinical consultation, supervision, and program development for athlete- and high-performance–serving professionals

3. Clients of Color seeking culturally responsive psychotherapy

4. Parenting and family role transitions, including caregiving and life-cycle change
